Known for an elegant and noble styling, the Mazda Cosmo AP was developed as a premium specialty car targeted at the European and North American markets. Mazda created a highly unique silhouette by giving it a long-nosed proportion, aerodynamic front spoiler and unique side view with two thin center pillars surrounding a small side window. With bright red paint that was aimed at changing public perception of premium car, the second-generation Cosmo AP generated a huge impact on Japanese users. By the way, "AP" stands for anti-pollution, reflecting the age when people started to expect automobiles to play a more social role such as pollution prevention and saving resources.

Whenever I drive from Hiroshima to Okayama to visit my grandparents, the R360 Coupe had always been my partner on the road.

For a long time, my dream was to buy and drive the Porter Van. Meeting with other fans and owners to celebrate the 50th anniversary is a wonderful memory that I will never forget.

Since I discovered the CX-8, I began to deeply appreciate Mazda’s manufacturing philosophy.
