The sixth-generation Mazda Capella debuted in 1995 as a Japan-exclusive model. With the fifth-generation Capella’s successor CRONOS getting wider body, Mazda decided to revive the Capella as an authentic, 5-numbered sedan with excellent maneuverability after three years. While proven mechanism including straight-four engine and the MacPherson strut suspension was maintained, Mazda designers explored Japanese aesthetic sensibilities as a design reference. Front grille reminiscent of Japanese-style gate was used as an accent to the front face. Character lines were effectively placed on the side of the body to emphasize stability and elongation.

For a long time, my dream was to buy and drive the Porter Van. Meeting with other fans and owners to celebrate the 50th anniversary is a wonderful memory that I will never forget.
Since I discovered the CX-8, I began to deeply appreciate Mazda’s manufacturing philosophy.
